MISSION STATEMENT
The Nicholls State University Student-Advisory Committee is dedicated to providing the opportunity for student-athletes to have a quality academic and athletic experience. This committee represents a commitment from student-athletes, coaches and administrators to achieve excellence.
About Nicholls State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
The Nicholls SAAC is comprised of two representatives from each athletic team, one voting member and one alternative, who function as a liaison between SAAC and their respective teams. The Executive offices are those of the President, Vice President and Secretary. These officers are elected by a voting majority of the representatives in the advisory committee and serve for a one-year term.
What does Nicholls SAAC do?
Nicholls SAAC functions as a channel to connect the student-athletes to the athletic administration, the coaches, the community, the student body and to each other. Some functions of SAAC are to:
- Communicate the issues and concerns of the student-athletes to the athletic administration
- Disseminate pertinent information to Nicholls athletic teams
- Facilitate student-athlete contribution to policies made within the athletic department
- Foster a sense of camaraderie between athletic teams
- Portray student athletes as visible, contributing members of our community
- Generate student-athlete involvement in community activities
- Develop a positive image of student athletes within the campus community
- Acquire feedback and suggestions from student-athletes regarding Southland Conference and NCAA legislation
- Implement programs that will enhance the quality of the academic and athletic experience of the student-athletes
