THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University women's basketball head coach
DoBee Plaisance added another honor to her lustrous coaching career as her 2007-08 Wolf Pack women's basketball team was inducted into the Loyola Athletics Hall of Fame Saturday.
In addition to the entire squad being enshrined, Wolf Pack standout guard Trenell Smith was inducted as well. Smith, along with her twin sister Trenese and Kiely Schork, are now all members of the Hall of Fame after playing for Coach Plaisance, who was inducted herself in 2015.
Led by Plaisance, the 2007-08 women's basketball team set a program record for most wins in a single campaign that still stands (28). The team posted an impressive 17-1 record in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference to repeat as regular-season season champions and came within one possession of repeating as GCAC tournament champs.
Despite not receiving the league's automatic bid, Loyola, which achieved what at the time was the highest ranking in program history -- 15th in the nation -- qualified for a second-straight national tournament. The 'Pack went on to win two games in the tournament to reach the quarterfinals, giving the Wolf Pack their first postseason victories in program history.

The honor marks Plaisance's third hall of fame recognition for her coaching career. In addition to the two Loyola honors, Plaisance was also enshrined into St. Martin Episcopal High School's Hall of Fame after leading the team to back-to-back state championships.
At Nicholls, Plaisance became the program's all-timer leader in wins last season and is two victories shy of reaching 100. Her teams hold nearly every program record including overall wins (19), conferences wins (13), consecutive winning seasons (3), consecutive postseason berths (5) and longest winning streak (7).
Plaisance's Colonels are coming off a big win over second-place Lamar last Saturday. Nicholls will look to even its conference record Wednesday at home against HBU. Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
