THIBODAUX, La. – Head Coach
Richie Riley and the Nicholls State University men's basketball program announced Saturday the signing of Kamall Richards (Harcum College / Brooklyn N.Y.), who will join the Colonel program for the 2016-17 season.
"Kamall is a versatile athlete that can be effective playing multiple positions," Riley said. "I really like his vision to find guys and score the ball in different ways. He played a year at the high major level and won 28 games in junior college. Kamall gives us a guy with a winning mentality and we are excited to have him."
A 6'6" guard, Richards averaged 16.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists for Harcum College, while shooting 42.4% from the floor and 29.3% from three-point range. Richards also made 72.4% of his attempts at the free throw line.
Prior to his time with the Bears, Richards played in seven games for Xavier before his season was cut short due to an ACL injury.
Richards spent the 2012-13 season at South Kent School in Connecticut and was a standout at St. Benedict's Prep in New Jersey. While at St. Benedict's, Richards was named First Team All-Prep by the Newark Star-Ledger. He helped lead the team to a single-season record 35 wins over the 2011-12 season, finishing 35-3 and winning a state championship. Richards scored over 1,000 points in his career with the Gray Bees.
Son of George and Laverne Richards, Kamall was born on Sept. 26 in New York City. He has three siblings, Kadeem, Donald and Damien. Kamall plans to major in Sports Business Management and hopes to own his own business.
