FRISCO, Texas – After posting two double-doubles in as many games last week, Nicholls State University junior center Marina Lilly has been named Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Lilly, a native of Dallas, was a dominant presence inside for the Colonels last week, averaging 13 points and 12 rebounds in two games. She closed out 2015 with a solid outing against Grambling, tallying 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds and one block.

In the Southland opener against Lamar, Lilly recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Nicholls to a victory over the preseason favorite Cardinals. Along with grabbing four boards on the offensive glass against Lamar, she chipped in with three assists and two steals.

Lilly, a native of Dallas, is the first Colonel to receive player of the week this season. The nod is also her first weekly honor for her career.

Lilly and the Colonels will hit the road to take on Houston Baptist on Thursday, Jan. 7. Tipoff against the Huskies is scheduled for 7 p.m.
