JONESBORO, Ark. – Senior Andri Bjornsson sank a 25-foot birdie on the second hole of a sudden death playoff to claim his first career individual title as the Nicholls State University men's golf team completed play in the Red Wolves Intercollegiate on Sunday at the RidgePointe Country Club.

After 18 holes of play on Sunday, Bjornsson, who was tied for first at 3-under after the first two rounds, shot a 2-over 73 to finish the tournament at 1-under. Tennessee Tech's Lee Whitehead fired a 69 in his final round to force a sudden death playoff between the two. On the first hole in sudden death at No. 18, both golfers scored pars to extend the playoff to hole 17. Whitehead would miss on his birdie attempt while Bjornsson was able to sink his to claim the title.

Although it was Bjornsson's first career individual title, it marked the Iceland native's sixth top 10 finish this season in just eight tournaments. Bjornsson finished the Red Wolves Intercollegiate with a three-round score of 69-70-73—212.

As a team, the Colonels dropped four spots from yesterday to finish in 12th place out of a total of 21 teams. Nicholls carded its highest score of the weekend to wrap up the tournament with a 304-293-305—902. Bjornsson's 2-over led the team on the final day, followed by Lucas Sapin at 5-over 76.
