THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University women's tennis head coach Meenakshi Sundaram announced Wednesday the signing of Milou Pietersz for the 2014-15 recruiting class.

Pietersz, a native of Arnhem, The Netherlands, ranks No. 79 of the country's seniors after making three quarterfinal and one semifinal appearances in national tournaments last summer. This year, she has claimed several wins over players ranked in the top 50.

"Milou is exactly the kind of player who will fit on my current team. She is a true fighter and wants to come to Nicholls to actually develop her game and contribute to the team's success," Coach Sundaram said. "She comes from a very experienced coaching background with her father ,Eric Pietersz, being her main mentor and coach. I am excited about the opportunity to help her reach her potential as a player and the team is looking forward to being even stronger next year."

Along with competing in numerous ITF junior tournaments, Pietersz played the Qualifiers of several $10,000 and $25,000 tournaments. In 2009, she earned a ranking of No. 6 in the 14-U group after winning a National top tournament and placing second in another. She also reached the third round of the Eddie Herr and Prince Cup that same year.

Pietersz picked Nicholls over schools like Miami, Wyoming , Texas State and New Mexico.
