Keith Cormier had nine hits in the Colonels' series against BYU

Keith Cormier has been named Louisiana Sports Writers Association Hitter of the Week, announced the organization Monday evening.
Cormier, a senior, earned the weekly award after posting a .529 batting average with six RBIs in helping Nicholls split a four-game series against BYU. The Channelview, Texas native collected four hits in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday, including game-tying RBI singles in the seventh and 11th innings. He came back in the nightcap to add a pair of RBI singles in a 10-2 victory over the Cougars to finish an impressive day in which he reached base in eight consecutive at-bats (seven hits and one walk).
In Saturday's finale, his two-run single in the sixth inning gave the Colonels the lead for good in a 6-1 victory.
Nicholls (8-8) visits No. 8 LSU (14-2) in a 6:30 p.m. contest Tuesday night at Alex Box Stadium.
