Colonel Football Set for Two Games on Southland TV
THIBODAUX, La. – The 2012 Nicholls State University football team will appear in at least two games on the Southland Conference Television Network as the conference announced its fall programming schedule on Wednesday.
Nicholls' first SLC TV contest will be on Oct. 20 at Stephen F. Austin, which will be the Colonels' first trip to Nacogdoches since 2009. On Nov. 3, the Colonels open up a doubleheader on the Southland Television Network when they host McNeese State. Both kickoff times are scheduled for 3 p.m. In addition to the two set broadcasts, the Colonels' game at Lamar on Nov. 10 could be picked up as a “wild card” selection.
All games on SLC TV will be carried on more than 20 affiliates across the regional network, including stations in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma, increasing the network's reach to more than 11.2 million households.
Local television affiliates include Morgan City on KWBJ (22), New Orleans on WHNO (20.1/20.2) and Baton Rouge on WBTR (41). Along with syndicated television coverage, all games will stream live and on demand as part of the new Southland Digital Network at southland.org. Broadcasts also will be carried by ESPN3, which is available online at watchespn.com and the WatchESPN app on iPhone, iPad, Android and Xbox LIVE systems.
“The Southland Conference is proud to announce its fifth year of programming with another solid broadcast schedule and a great group of affiliates,” Southland Conference Commissioner Tom Burnett said. “There are loyal stations that have been with us from day one, plus new stations that will be with us entering the 2012 season. I believe their viewers will see a great product, not only on the field of play from our student-athletes, but in high-quality, award-winning production of the network.”
Tape-delayed coverage will be available nationwide via Fox College Sports Central. Regionally, replays will be shown on Comcast SportsNet Houston and Cox Sports Television. All events will also be available on demand on the Southland Digital Network mobile and tablet applications as well as the Southland Affiliate Network and SmartTV applications.
The Colonels open the season on Sept. 1 at Oregon State with the Pac-12 Network, set to launch in mid-August, broadcasting the matchup. Also, the three remaining home games - Evangel (Sept. 22), Sam Houston State (Oct. 13) and Southeastern La. (Nov. 15) - could be broadcast regionally.
