Dmitry Kozionov was selected to the All-Louisiana team for the third time in as many seasons
BATON ROUGE, La. – For the third time in his career, Nicholls State University men's tennis player
Dmitry Kozionov was named All-Louisiana, as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association announced the 2012 all-state tennis teams on Sunday.
Kozionov, who earned first-team honors in his first two seasons, garnered second-team as a junior after finishing the year with a 12-6 record in singles, including a perfect 2-0 record in the Southland Conference Tournament. In conference, he compiled a 4-1 record and was named second-team All-SLC. Of his 12 victories, nine came at the No. 2 position and he also had nine wins in straight sets.
In addition to his singles play, Kozionov also led the Colonels in doubles, teaming up with
Shayann Vaezzadeh for 11 victories on the year.
Kozionov's career accolades include LSWA and Southland Freshman of the Year, two-time first-team All-Louisiana and three-time All-Southland (first-team in 2010).
Kozionov heads into his senior season with a 41-15 career record in singles.
