Nicholls Football Hosts Colonel Football Pride Day

THIBODAUX - After a successful inaugural Colonel Football Pride Day last season, over 80 Nicholls football players used their final day of summer conditioning on Friday to once again display their “Colonel Pride” by providing maintenance to the weight room, locker room and meeting room in Barker Hall.

Some of the improvements the Colonels provided were painting, cleaning and minor repairs to their football facilities. At the conclusion of the Colonel Football Pride Day, the Colonels wrapped up the day of hard work with a cookout.

“While this is a great way to build team unity,” said head coach Charlie Stubbs, “we do this to let our kids know that we will work and do whatever it takes to improve ourselves and the program. We are very thankful for our facilities and this is a good way for the players to show their appreciation.”

The football team will head home for a few days before reporting to fall camp on Wednesday, August 3. The first fall practice for the 2011 season is scheduled for Thursday.
