THIBODAUX, La. -
In its continued commitment to upgrade athletic facilities, the new Colonel soccer complex is beginning to take shape. The soccer facility is a project by Pipeline Construction & Maintenance, INC., a Houma based company owned and operated by Mike Fesi. Fesi has agreed to build the facility and donate it to Nicholls.
"We owe a great deal of gratitude to Mr. Fesi for his generosity, without him this facility would not have been possible. This is the first time in our department's history that a private donor has provided this level of support. I know how excited our soccer athletes are to have such a fine new facility," said Rob Bernardi, Nicholls Athletics Director.
The soccer facility will include locker rooms, a team area, offices and a concession area. Prior to the new building, the women's soccer team was without a locker room and formal team room. The new soccer complex will be the first of its kind in the Southland Conference.
Nicholls added women's soccer in 1998 in response to the growth and popularity of the sport in the local area. Nationally, women's soccer is the fastest growing sports with participation levels at NCAA member institution growing annually.
